Correspondent (law)

In the legal profession, a correspondent is where an attorney/firm is hired by another firm to perform work on its behalf. For example, if Firm A is based in Durban but needs to have documents issued in a Bloemfontein court, it may hire a firm in Bloemfontein to act as its correspondent and have the documents issued on its behalf.
